Kei Truck Hulling
With the right preparation and attention to these guidelines, you can enjoy a variety of adventures with your Kei truck while ensuring your payload capacity remains safe and manageable.
Kei trucks boast a payload capacity of 770 lbs (350 kg) for speeds up to 60 mph. However, depending on the model's engine and brakes, the payload capacity can be as high as 880 lbs at low speeds at max 40 mph and up to 1,000 lbs for models with 45+ HP and acquit brakes at a max speed of 25 mph.

Kei Truck Towing
Kei trucks produced in the early to late 1990s—equipped with engines generating 37 to 42 horsepower and acquit brakes—can tow loads of up to 880 pounds with speeds up to 60 mph. Kei truck models, which boast power outputs of 45+ horsepower and have acquit brakes, can tow up to 1,000 pounds at low speeds at max 40 mph.
Safety & Limits
It is essential to highlight that Kei trucks are not specifically engineered for heavy loads. The engines can not handle high pressure at high rpm, and the frames are very light. If you carry over 770 pounds in the bed or tow over 880 pounds, stay away from high RPMs and upgrade the Kei truck brakes, or use a modified trailer equipped with its own trailer-breaking system. Additionally, upgrading to wider tires can significantly enhance your truck's stability and braking performance.
