25 YO + Kei Truck Vehicle Registration, Western U.S.
- Arizona AZ: Kei trucks in Arizona can be driven on public streets, highways, and the interstate, provided they meet certain safety and emissions requirements.
- California CA: Known for having some of the strictest emissions laws in the USA. Kei truck modifications may be necessary to meet the state’s requirements in California. Common modifications are lighting systems, and replacing the stock catalytic converter to comply with CARB. Use on highways or on the interstate is prohibited.
- Idaho ID: Japanese mini trucks for sale in Idaho are allowed to be used on the roads with a local option without speed restrictions with restrictions to ensure safety.
- Montana MT: Kei trucks in Montana can be driven on public roads, including highways and the interstate, with few restrictions.
- Utah UT: Kei trucks in Utah can drive on public roads with a 50 mph speed restriction except on the interstate. Specific requirements can differ by county. Salt Lake County has stricter emissions standards.
- Washington, WA: Kei trucks are street-legal in Washington but are not allowed on highways, high-speed roads, or the interstate.
- Wyoming WY: Kei trucks in Wyoming can drive on any road except for the interstate. In contrast, there are no speed restrictions; the vehicle needs to achieve the maximum speed allowed on a specific roadway.

Kei trucks are able to be on all roads at 55 mph or less and bypass the 25-year federal vehicle exemption by being classified as UTVs in states that permit street-legal UTVs. 45 states acknowledge the laws of other states. You can receive your license plates by mail and do not need to be a resident of the state.
